As a grid-independent power generator we operate coal-fired power plants in Germany, Colombia, Turkey and the Philippines and refinery power plants and a variety of facilities to generate energy from renewable resources in Germany. Our installed power totals around 9,400 Megawatts (MW) wolrdwide, including around 7,700 MW in Germany.

Pioneer in new energies

We're experts in efficient, eco-friendly energy generation. That's why Evonik is a pioneer in the field of renewable energies—biomass and mine gas, but also geothermal energy. This is a highly promising field: The European Union (EU) is aiming at a target of about 20 percent for renewable energies by the year 2020.

Worldwide trading in fuels

Evonik is Germany's largest supplier of hard coal, coke, and coal by-products, and the market leader in hard coal; power producers and the iron industry get almost half their fuel requirements from us.

Everything's reusable

Advanced coal-fired power plants produce mainly energy. But combustion of hard coal gives rise also to products that Evonik safely and sensibly reuses, products encountered everywhere as building materials on roads and sidewalks and in houses.
